Successfully stopped service vmware-cis-config
Hi,

In order to start Vmware services in a Vcenter, generally you will have to start all of them manually however, there are commands which can start/stop/list all services at once.

In VCenter server,
1.  Run command prompt using administrative privileges (Run as administrator).
2. Browse to  C:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server  \Bin\
excd C:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server\bin

3.  Run this command to list the vCenter Server and/or Platform Services Controller services:
ex: service-control --list

4. Run this command to start all services:
service-control --start --all

5.  Run this command to stop all services:
service-control --stop --all

I have attached the outputs for list all, start all and stop all process.

How to add users in a group for AD server using command line

Hi,

I want to share Information on how to add users in a group using command line.

Pre-requisite: Users should be created in AD respective to the groups delegated.

1. Run command prompt using administrative privileges (Run as administrator).

2. To view the existing groups in AD use command - net localgroup
For example: Running net localgroup shows the following local groups on my system.
Output:

3. To know the list of members of a group - net localgroup groupName
For example: To get the list of all remote desktop users on a system we can run the below command.
net localgroup "Remote Desktop users"
Output:

4. To add a new user to the group - net localgroup group_name UserLoginName /add
For example to add a user 'user1' to  Remote Desktop users group, we can run the below command.
net localgroup "Remote desktop users" user1 /add
Output:

Note: To add any user in Remote desktop users, the server should be enabled with that Remote Desktop services role.

Xenapp logon process in 6.5

1. End user clicks on a desktop or application (in this example, StoreFront) to launch it
2. Storefront requests a session host from the Delivery Controller
3. Delivery Controller selects a session host
4. Delivery Controller sends session host hostname & IP address to Storefront
5. Storefront creates the ICA File and sends it to Citrix Receiver
6. Citrix Receiver launches the ICA file
7. Citrix Receiver determines and then checks that the connection to the session host can be established
8. Citrix Receiver establishes an ICA connection to the session host
9. Delivery Controller creates a user session
10. Delivery Controller processes Citrix policies
11. Session is brokered by the Delivery Controller to the session host
12. User Authentication between domain controller and session host
13. End User sees the Citrix session window open and the Windows welcome screen
14. Profile Load, Group Polices (GPO) and script execution take place
15. Application/Desktop is fully launched

Application Enumeration Process and the Application Launch Process in XenApp 6

Application Enumeration Process

The application enumeration process is as follows:

  1. A user launches a Web browser and  then connects to the Web Interface.
  2. The Web Interface returns the logon page.
  3. The user types in credentials.
  4. The user’s credentials are forwarded from XML to the IMA service in HTTP (or HTTPS) form.
  5. The IMA then forwards them to the local Lsass.exe.
  6. The Lsass.exe encrypts the credentials and passes them to the domain controller.
  7. The domain controller returns the SIDs (user’s SID and the list of group SIDs) back to Lsass.exe and to IMA.
  8. IMA uses the SIDs to search the Local Host Cache (LHC) for a list of applications and the Worker Group Preference policy for that authenticated user.
  9. The list of the applications together with the user’s worker group preference policy are returned to the Web Interface.
  10. The Web Interface returns the Web page to the Web browser. (This completes the application enumeration process).

Application Launch Process

The application launch process is as follows:
  1. User selects the application by clicking the application icon (such as Microsoft Word).
  2. The selected application data (Microsoft Word) is passed back to the Web Interface.
  3. Web Interface passes the Microsoft Word information together with the user’s Worker Group Preference policy back to IMA on the XML broker server.
  4. It then forwards to the IMA service on the Zone Data Collector.
  5. The Zone Data Collector tries to find out a least loaded server according to the Worker Group preference list.
  6. When it finds the least loaded server, it sends a query to the Citrix Service Manager of that server to verify whether the server has the required application installed.

  7. If yes, it provides this server’s host ID to the XML broker.
  8. The XML broker translates this host ID into it’s IP address by searching the Local Host Cache.
  9. The IP address is then provided to the Web Interface (this completes the application resolution).
  10. Web Interface uses this IP address to create the ICA file.
  11. The ICA file is then returned to the Web browser on the client machine.
  12. Citrix online Web plug-in uses the ICA file to launch an ICA connection to the least loaded XenApp server.

  13. The XenApp server launches the application for the user
